The Project Factory - BNDES

BNDES is rendering services aiming at assisting the Public Sector in attracting private capital to environmentally sustainable projects and social investments in Sanitation, Health, Education, Street Lighting, Forests and Parks Management, among others. The solution is focused on bringing more quality to public services with transparency, independency and efficiency. In June 2020 the Project Factory was engaged with a total of 74 projects: 31 Federal, 30 State and 13 Municipal with expected investments totaling up to USD 30 billions. Only for the sanitation and water sector these supported projects will benefit 36 million people with sewage and treated water. Among many environmental and health benefits, these water/sewage projects are expected to inject up to USD 10 billion in the new investments in the economy.

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) is a federal public company and the main instrument of the Federal Government for long-term financing and investment in the various segments of the Brazilian economy. As a bank serving the State, the institution also structure privatization projects (public-private partnerships, concessions and privatizations) with the aim of attracting investors for the country’s infrastructure. BNDES was founded in 1952 and is an IDFC Member.
