PROJECT PRESENTATION

The making of the world’s first Humanitarian Impact Bond opened new avenues but also challenged the organizational capacity of the ICRC and its partners. Lessons were learnt. However, despite exponential interest and commitment, most humanitarian and development actors do not yet have the organizational mandates, systems and resources to leverage private capital in fragile settings effectively. The Organizational Readiness and Enabling Private Capital for Innovative Financing in Humanitarian Contexts Playbook was developed to prepare actors to engage in this space. It presents a self-evaluation framework for assessing an institution’s starting point, and a roadmap for taking action. It was commissioned for the Good Humanitarian Donorship group by its co-chairs EU/DG ECHO and Switzerland, financed by the Swiss Government, and written by the Boston Consulting Group.
