To support the implementation of its projects, the Financial Systems Division of AFD provides customized technical assistance to public financial institutions. This support is intended to help partner organizations achieve the objectives of the projects in alignment with the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

An Impact Bonds Facility has been specifically developed for structuring green and social bonds targeting public banks. The Facility will specifically address the following three objectives:

• Objective 1: In addition to AFD’s loans, help the organization to (i) secure its access to financing by diversifying its fundraising methods and debt providers and (ii) mobilize medium-to long-term resources to finance socially or environmentally oriented investments;
• Objective 2: Encourage targeted organizations to define a strategy geared toward financing environmental and socially oriented investments;
• Objective 3: Promote best practices in green and social bond issuance among issuers and investors: use of funds for projects that meet strictly defined environmental and social criteria and impact monitoring.
