En-ROADS Climate Simulator
En‑ROADS is a global climate simulator that allows users to explore the impact that dozens of strategies—such as renewable energy and electrifying transport—have on hundreds of factors like energy prices, temperature, air quality, and sea level rise. En-ROADS is co-developed by Climate Interactive and MIT Sloan.
When accessing the model, users are presented with the En-ROADS Baseline Scenario which represents the state of the world if societal and technological changes were to continue at their current rate of progress, without additional policies or action, and have 18 sliders representing different actions, to test.
There are also over 170 output graphs available. They show data from different parts of the global energy, climate, land use, health and nature systems and they update as you move sliders within En-ROADS. En-ROADS is used to educate and inform corporate and investment strategies, ensuring they are grounded in the latest and most reliable scientific insights. The model is open source and available in 21 languages.
We have developed a robust ecosystem of written materials and model documentation that have made En-ROADS system insights more accessible and actionable for a diverse global audience. The model is accompanied by a free online Mastering En-ROADS course.
