PROJECT PRESENTATION

Located on the Cerdagnes plateau in the Pyrénées-Orientales, this concentrated solar power plant will boast the highest level of sunlight exposure in France. This project, costing a total of 60 million euros, was financed by an equity contribution of 10 million euros from the Banque des Territoires.

Distributed over 33 hectares, the ELLO plant produces 9 MW of electric power and has a storage capacity of 3 hours. Building work lasted two years. It uses Fresnel mirror technology : 153 000 square metres of movable mirrors follow the sun's path, heating long fixed tubes and producing water vapour that turns the turbine. The plant will be able to adjust its power production according to the needs of the network.

This project is part of the Banque des Territoires strategy to improve the sustainability of regions.
