Climate Change Investment Fund
Climate Change Investment Fund (CCIF) CABEI – Central American Bank for Economic Integration The Climate Change Investment Fund (CCIF) is a financial instrument established by CABEI to support the design and implementation of projects focused on climate change mitigation and adaptation in Central America. With an initial capitalization of US$25 million from CABEI, the fund seeks to mobilize additional resources, provide technical assistance, and catalyze public and private investment for transformative climate initiatives in the region.
The CCIF is currently co-financed by key development partners, including:
- KfW, which has contributed EUR 4.5 million,
- the European Union with EUR 4.9 million, and
- FONPRODE (Spain) with EUR 1.7 million.
These contributions have strengthened the fund’s ability to deliver high-impact, scalable solutions in areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable infrastructure, water resource management, resilient agriculture, and climate-smart cities. In addition, the fund features a technical assistance window to build institutional capacities for designing and executing bankable climate projects.
Through the CCIF, CABEI aims to become a catalytic actor in regional climate finance, aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
