The Agri-PDB Platform was established to support agricultural public development banks (Agri-PDBs) in assessing the quality and climate impact of their portfolios, with the aim of ensuring that practices are environmentally sustainable and aligned with carbon neutrality objectives.

Beyond technical assessments, the Platform fosters peer-to-peer learning and collaboration among Agri-PDBs and their key clients, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), cooperatives, and farmers’ organizations, thereby contributing to more resilient and inclusive food systems. It also provides an inclusive forum for PDBs to exchange knowledge, harmonise policy frameworks, and co-develop financing solutions. Launched in 2021, the Agri-PDB Platform has since grown to bring together nearly 140 public development banks across 94 countries.

Backed by funding from the European Commission, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Platform has expanded its work to include in-depth research on PDBs and several thematic areas such as agroecology, rural financial inclusion, green finance, and nutrition. It offers a wide range of services, from peer learning and training to innovation support, while promoting practical tools such as the ABC Map and agroecology assessment instruments.

Through high-level participation in global forums and country-specific technical missions, the Platform helps banks co-develop tailored strategies for green and inclusive finance. Looking ahead, the Agri-PDB Platform will focus on translating its research and peer learning into concrete action to expand its impact. It will strengthen financial inclusion, adaptation finance, and impact measurement to enhance PDBs’ contribution to inclusive and climate-resilient rural transformation.
