PROJECT PRESENTATION

The field of sport for development (S4D) is entering a period of strong innovation, especially thanks to the development of novel social outcomes contracts (SOC). Recognizing this potential, UNESCO’s global alliance Fit for Life, the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the Finance in Common Sport and Development Coalition are jointly launching a pilot in Santiago, Chile through the Coalition for Sustainable Development through Sport (CSDS), an alliance of PDBs launched during FiCS 2020. This implementation will create real opportunities for beneficiaries in the target areas of disability, equal access, and inclusion in sport. Moreover, designing this implementation as an SOC will drive innovation, lower risk for new investors, and symbiotically build Social Return on Investment (SROI) data, creating an accurate evaluation of the multi-sectoral cost-savings related to a sport-based implementation. CSDS, CAF and UNESCO anticipate regional expansion of this pilot across Latin America, and international replication through Fit for Life.

Financing instrument: Grant and Social Outcomes Contracting (SOC)

Duration: One year

PRESENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION

The Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) promotes a sustainable development model through credit, non-refundable resources, and supports in the technical and financial structuring of projects in the public and private sectors in Latin America.
