FiCS publishes a first Book of Reference on Public Development Banks

The FiCS Summit 2025 marks an important milestone with the release of the first PDB Reference Book in its working version for consultation.
Recognizing the quality and diversity of research on PDBs, the FiCS Secretariat agreed on the need for a PDB Reference Book. Drawing from a comprehensive bibliography of over 400 academic and policy papers, the PDB Reference Book summarizes lessons learned from decades of development finance. Structured around thematic two-pagers, it provides an in-depth exploration of the ecosystem of public development banks around the world, including multilateral, national and sub-national institutions, each of which operates under distinct mandates, business models, and governance frameworks. In light of current debates on the reform of the global financial architecture, the PDB Reference Book lays the ground for a more integrated system of public financial institutions that can play a central role in aligning global financing with the sustainable development agenda.
A revised version of the PDB Reference Book will be published in the perspective of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), taking place in Sevilla (30 June – 3 July, 2025).
